Work is underway on the refurbishment of runway 9-27 at the Greenwood County Airport, reports GwdToday.com.
The Federal Aviation Administration granted nearly $3 million to Greenwood County to complete the project.The grant has been matched with about $160,000 from state funds and the same amount from the airport fund.
Runway 5-23 was refurbished and reopened while construction on runway 9-27 takes place. When construction on runway 9-27 is complete, the airport will have two active runways.
