Columbia Development Group submits rezoning proposal for 92-acre North Carolina mixed-use development

South Carolina-based Columbia Development Group LLC has submitted  on April 24 a rezoning proposal to the Town of Cary for the Cary Eastern Gateway mixed-use development. Cary is in the North Carolina Research Triangle area.

The plans propose up to two million square feet of mixed-use space, including Class A office, retail, restaurant space, two hotels and luxury high density residential units. In addition, the project would include significant green space and multiple parking structures. If approved, the development would also bring thousands of new jobs to Cary, the developers say in their announcement.

“Upon approval, this rezoning proposal will enable the creation of a beautiful and unique destination for individuals, families and businesses in Cary and the surrounding Triangle region to live, work and play,” said Abbitt Goodwin, a partner at Columbia Development Group’s Raleigh office. “We extend our sincere gratitude to Mayor Weinbrecht, the Cary Town Council and the entire town staff for their dedication to actively pursuing a revitalized vision for the Cary community, and we look forward to working together to make these exciting plans a reality.”

The proposed 92-acre site is situated in a prime location off Cary Towne Boulevard, easily accessible from Interstate 40 and adjacent to Wake Med Soccer Park, the developer says.
