Construction employment drops in South Carolina’s three major areas

Construction employment declined in South Carolina’s three major metro areas between November 2013 and November 2014, according to an analysis of federal employment data released by the Associated General Contractors of America.

The Charleston metro area was hardest hit, recording a 5% decline in jobs over the 12-month stretch. The Charleston market industry employed 14,400 workers in November compared with 15,100 for the same month in 2013, GSA Business reports.

Greenville had a 3% decline in construction employment, shedding 300 jobs for the period, the association reported.
