SC Construction Jobs Increase 3%

Construction employment in South Carolina rose 3% over the past year, according to data released by the Associated General Contractors of America.

The state’s construction industry increased by 2,600 workers to 77,600 between January and the same month in 2012, reports
GSA Business. It added figures were culled from federal labor statistics and not seasonally adjusted.
The number of jobs in the construction, mining and logging sector also was up 3% to 81,400, the report said.

Among the state’s metro areas, the Charleston market showed a 2% annual increase to 13,300 workers in construction, mining and logging. Greenville was down 4% to 10,900 workers and Columbia slipped by 1% to 14,000. Read More.
