Scout Motors is adding $300 million to its South Carolina investment to build a supplier park next to its production centre in Blythewood, a move the company says will create about 1,000 jobs and drive nearly $700 million in cumulative economic impact.

The nearly 200-acre park will include more than 2.3 million square feet of specialized manufacturing and logistics space across three centres: a just-in-time facility to sequence parts for final assembly, a high-volume battery assembly building and an accessories centre for vehicle upfitting.

“This expansion reinforces our long-term commitment to American manufacturing and reflects our continued belief in South Carolina as a hub for automotive innovation and economic growth,” said Scout Motors president and CEO Scott Keogh. “Our on-site supplier park will strengthen our production capabilities and help establish a resilient supply chain ecosystem that will benefit the region for decades to come.”

The investment does not come with new government incentives and builds on Scout’s existing $2-billion commitment to the state. Company officials say supplier contracts already awarded represent $368 million in additional local investment and are expected to support more than 1,000 new jobs.

Construction has been awarded to Evans General Contractors, with PRP Real Assets serving as project advisor. The supplier park is designed to serve as a central logistics hub, supporting seamless delivery of parts, batteries and accessories to Scout’s main assembly operations.

South Carolina leaders welcomed the announcement, pointing to its ripple effects across the economy.

Gov. Henry McMaster said the project highlights Scout’s role in job creation. “This announcement further highlights Scout Motors’ commitment to our continued prosperity and the seemingly limitless economic opportunities they’re creating for our people,” he said.

U.S. Sen. Tim Scott said the expansion cements South Carolina’s reputation as a manufacturing leader. “This will not only create jobs but support continued growth and opportunity in South Carolina,” he said.

Richland County Council chair Jesica Mackey called the park “a major milestone” for the community. “Not only does it infuse immediate investment, it sets the stage for other businesses to enter the market that will bring in career opportunities and partnerships,” she said.

Initial production at the Scout Motors facility is scheduled to begin in 2027.
