Charleston City Council initially approved a mixed-use community planned for the Wando area, reports Charleston Business Journal.
The Beach Co. plans to build Wando Village on about 70 acres at 546 River bend Trail along S.C. Highway 41.
The project now goes to the city’s Planning Commission for approval before coming back to City Council.
Plans call for about eight units per acre for a maximum of 420 units on about 50 acres. The remaining 20 acres are wetlands or would be used as open space.
